Mobile Locate

This is a new service that enables users to locate the physical location of mobile phones within the UK.

More details are available within the Control Panel once you have registered and logged on, but in summary, once the owner of the handset has given permission, then the mobile can be located by simply using our system to poll the handset. For technical reasons the exact accuracy will vary depending on the network and precise location. The location will be shown on a map.

Of course privacy must be respected and is ensured by the need for the handset to give permission (which can be removed at any time).

There are many possible applications for this new service, some of which may include:

• Parent and child – parents may feel more comfortable if they know they can find the location of their child’s mobile phone.
• Transport companies – being able to locate vans and lorries.
• Colleague security – for example an estate agents doing viewings on their own may like the security of knowing that their mobile can be located if they haven’t called in by an appointed time.
• People who visit or work in peoples homes or remotely – home visiting people could have arrangements with others so that if they fail to make contact by a predetermined time then their mobile location could be polled.
